Kylmä! Marraskuun puolivälissä Australiassa pitäisi olla lämmin loppukevät. Aamulla niin olikin, mutta sitten tuli sade, tuli tuuli. Tuli myös raekuuro (auto kiireesti talliin, kun ei tiedetty tuleeko sieltä tällä kertaa kanamunan kokoisia vai vähän pienempiä). Lämpötila viideltä iltapäivällä 11 astetta ja tulen tekoa harkitaan.
Rakeet olivat sitten sen verran pieniä, etteivät sentään pieksäneet lakoon kauniita liljojani. Ei aavistustakaan lajista, muistiinpanot kukkasipuliostoksista katosivat pian istuttamisen jälkeen. Kesän tullen tulossa vielä kahta muutakin tuntematonta tyyppiä.
Viikonvaihteen Sydney Morning Heraldin IT-liitteessä oli asiaa blogeista ja seksistä (tässä vielä toinen artikkeli). Siis ei perinteisistä pornosivuista vaan ns. tavallisten ihmisten nettipäiväkirjoissaan tekemistä seksielämää koskevista paljastuksista. Juttu on ilmaista lukemista ensi viikonvaihteeseen asti, muistaakseni.
Artikkeli vertasi, huvin pikemminkin kuin argumentin vuoksi (oletan), blogien lukemista sattumalta näkysälle jääneen yksityisen päiväkirjan lukemiseen. Ajatusleikkinä mielenkiintoinen:
"Unable to resist, some of us might read a few paragraphs or even pages, before snapping the diary shut and carefully placing it back as it was found. But no one would discuss the entries with complete strangers or dare adding their own comments in the margin."

It seems we might have to make a fire to keep relatives warm on their last night in sunny Australia. After a warm and sunny morning, it is now 11 degrees outdoors! It is also foggy, windy and rainy. There was some hail, too. We rushed to drive the car into the garage, not knowing if the hailstones were going to be the size of an egg or possibly smaller this time.
It was not too bad in the end. My liliums are still as pretty as they were this morning when I took the photo. No idea what kind of liliums - I lost my notes soon after planting three different kinds of bulbs three or so years ago. Some of them were 'oriental lilies', I think, some of them not.
In the weekend issue of The Sydney Morning Herald, there was an article (and another article) about ordinary people blogging about their sex lives. It will be free reading for a few days only.

Hi AnniNice photo of the Kangaroo from yesterday's blog - given the distance from which it was taken. It looks as if she was carrying a Joey (is that a second pair of ears near the left arm?)Re Tuesday 15 November's blog, those Liliums are Asiatic Liliums, or a hybrid variety. The way they point the flowers upward is a clue. The Oriental Liliums grow taller, hold their flowers diffently (pendant, or outward facing), are unsually spotted, and heavily scented. When planting them, they are the ones with huge bulbs. The Asiatics make great garden plants, and yours are growing very nicely. Cheers .... Denis

Niin, minä eilen voihkin, että kyllä on lämmintä, jopa 11 astetta! Lumesta ei tietoakaan.Tänään tosin pohjoistuuli on kymentänyt ilman. Jos vaikka huomenna.Komeita liljoja.

Thanks Denis - I was sort of relying on you to know about the liliums. I seem to remember the word "hybrid" and I think some of the others were Oriental. It is very irritating that I can't locate my notes.Jaska, tänä aamuna piti sitten tehdä tuli uuniin. Pehmeä lasku vanhemmille, jotka palaavat tänään Suomeen. Imatrallakin oli vielä eilen 8 astetta lämmintä, ja samanlaista on ollut jo monta viikkoa. Ennenkuulumatonta!
