Kinkku ja kärpäsiä
Out of place
Kovasti yritettiin muttei se joululta tuntunut. Oli kuusi, oli lahjat, oli kinkkua, lohta ja muita tykötarpeita. Oli muhkea laatikollinen käsintehtyjä konvehteja ja aika monta mukavaa viinipulloa. Oli myös kuuma tuuli, kärpäslaumat, heinänuha ja helle.
Pohjoisterritoriossa oli niin kuuma, että kirkossakin vähennettiin vaatetta.
Ei siis oikeaa joulua, mutta saatiin sentään kivat monipäiväiset kekkerit, niiden jälkeinen pöhö sekä siihen liittyvä väistämätön melankolia.
Ensi vuonna jouluksi Eurooppaan.

It just doesn't feel like Christmas. Despite the Christmas tree, presents, nice food and wine. Despite the huge box of naughty hand-made chocolates.
'Maybe if one went to carols services and stuff', I caught Andy saying today. He must have been thinking of this piece of news from Northern Territory.
It was a nice three-day party, though. After a long party one often feels a bit down and out-of-place (like the Finnish elves in the picture).
I hear it once snowed in Robertson at Christmas. Maybe next year?
We will be in Europe then, hopefully.

Hi Anni. Those poor little elves do not look happy. Did you slip them some schnapps in their little cupboard, while you were having that 3 day party? No?There's your answer. They look to me like deprived "closet drinkers". Deprived, not depraved (though maybe the little one on the left...???)Denis

They are not deprived! They had emptied a whole bottle of malt whisky while were were sleeping. I am going to lock them in the cupboard for 11 months now and that will serve them right.

A whole bottle of single malt? That explains the look on the little fellow on the left. No wonder you wish to lock them away.

Surely blended whisky would have been good enough for elves - who was the single malt really intended for?
