The odd one out

Useamman kuukauden toimitusurakka on takana ja kolmisensataa sivua lähetetty kustantajalle. Suunnitelmissani oli paluu kauniiseen, kaksikieliseen blogivankilaan, mutta hiukan yllättäen ajatus ei miellytä ollenkaan. Aionkin arkistoida Mayday-päiväkirjan toistaiseksi ja lähteä epämääräisen mittaiselle tauolle. Kukaties palaan jossain vaiheessa vähän erinäköisen blogin kanssa. Sillä välin kiitän nöyrästi sekä kourallista uskollisia lukijoita (joista 38 verrattoman Blogilistan kautta) että kaiken maailman googlaajia.
Merkintöjä Maydayhin kertyi 242, kommentteja lähemmäs 1200. Suurkiitos! Mittari raksuttaa jossakin 30 000 kävijän paremmalla puolella.
Eilen otetussa kuvassa lammaslauman takapiruna häärää yksi ruma ankanpoikanen (klikkaa kuva isommaksi).

Having finished a big editing job - 338 pages in the final manuscript - my good intention was to become an active blogger again. With a curious mixture of guilt and relief I realise that, for now, I don't actually want to return to my pretty, little, bilingual blog prison. So, Mayday blog will be archived as of today, and if one day I feel the need to blog again, it will probably be with a new weblog.
Since August 2005, there have been 242 entries, 1200 comments (great many of them my own) and over 30 000 visitors, most of them from search engines but also a handful of truly loyal visitors and commenters - especially Denis, Marjorie and Angharad and 38 subscribers through the wonderful Finnish blog portal Blogilista. Thank you so very much for keeping me company (and making me write in English)!

Voi ei, älä mee, tai tule ainakin pian taas takaisin! Tiedän kyllä tunteen, kun blogi alkaa tuntua vankilalta. Maailmassa on ihan tarpeeksi pakkoja muutenkin. Mutta toivottavasti tosiaan kipinä iskee sinuun vielä... Mukavia päiviä!

Harmi, jos lopetat. Tuossa jo ilahduin, kun huomasin blogilistalta että olet päivittänyt, mutta asia olikin sitten tämä.
Mutta terveisiä luokkakokouksesta Imatralta! Onnistuneet kekkerit, joissa monta vanhaa tuttua ja muutama täysin tunnistamattomaksi muuttunut kasvo. Olisi ollut hauska nähdä siellä.

Juu Jarmo, selkäpiitä karmi katsoa valokuvia kun jotkut näyttivät tasan samalta kuin ennen ja toisia taas ei tunnistanut ollenkaan. Pidit kuulemma hyvän puheen.

I've kept looking, hopefully and very regularly for a further blog but knew that while the book was in progress I was unlikely to find an entry. You sound as though you have more than enough to keep you occupied for now - but we shall live in hope that the blog will make a comeback, as we got to know and like Robertson and its inhabitants from reading your entries.

Hooray for the book, but alas for Mayday! I'd flutter my handkerchief in farewell, but it's too soggy to function effectively at the moment. Oh, well, a change is as good as a holiday - and I'm sure you could do with a holiday!
I like the picture - is that an alpaca or has Lamarckian evolution come to the Southern Highlands?
